Singulair, Side effects, Adverse effects in kids

Here I am back again....

Back with more frustration than ever before. My 5 yr old who is asthmatic is in deep trouble...or giving us a lot of trouble…..poor kid who is suffering from asthma and i am looking at him helpless. It works this way, he goes sleepless we go sleepless and he gets worse and we get worse.

Any way the story goes this way..

We took him to his Doc on10/15/08 and the Doc did his examination and put him on Singulair and asked us to go back after 3 weeks. We happily started him on Singulair and in two days he is a different kid. He slept thru night and was happy in the morning and we were thinking oh god at last you have some mercy on us..

We were pleasantly surprised our little one is up at 6 in the morning and all pepped up (Not good on Sunday morning...) I was like go ahead and play some thing and did not know what else to do and crouched up on the couch in the pretext of "watching" him and slept...The day was ok and he was fine and in the night he went to bed a tad later (9pm instead of 8pm) we were like ha ha.. he is bit excited that’s all..

We were bit more surprised, today he is up at 5.30 in the morning, Since it is a work day it does not matter to me much but for him after sleeping an hr late previous night this is not good..

Me being a panic master got little upset...hey no one has luxury of having panic time in USA..we are all busy so I was soon on my way to work leaving him to bother his mom...and in the evening had bit of tantrums in the car but you know its usual they are hungry, tired and angry for not being at home..but night again he slept tad later 9.05 or some thing like that bit more than previous day..me panic master again started worrying but i was so tired did not know what happened after i crashed on the bed..only

To wake up at 6 in the morning as my little one was up and running to bathroom to pee pee....

as usual I left for work my wife took him to day care... with a lot more tantrums than previous day..and fast forward ditto rest of the previous day but every thing of his tantrums more in quantity and in quality..

Fast Forward two day with extra dose of every thing from my kid all possible riots and tantrums and crying in Extra double Mc Burger size with all the nasty Stuff (No Offense to Mac burger or lovers or Ron Mac or anybody...please nothing personal)...

Now I am freaking out...No sleep for 3 consecutive days (I Lied...I had no sleep for 4 days..even though I crashe I kept waking up probably every hr..I told you all I am Mr PANIC). My wife was like for last 2 days does this have any thing to do with SIngulair...And Me the Mr Clinical Biochemist and Toxicologist/Metabolic specialist and Board certified clinical pathologist...Nahhhh...FDA has done all the necessary checks and validated the drug....Blah..Blah..Blah.. and you know usual men nonsense.. and came to work...
First thing settle Down at office and see every thing is Hunky-Dori...and thought may be just for the heck of it Google Singulair side effect..
BAM....Thats when I saw this thousands of posts on Internet about Singulair and Behavioral problems.. Starting with aggressive behavior, tantrums, suicidal thoughts mano man, And FDA got on this train only a six months ago and is STILL investing for the last 6 months..And first thing is to call my Wife and of Course you what happened next...well use your imagination about my conversation with her..Well for every body she is a software personality...(You know what I mean....)
Now another freak out call to my kids primary care giver..

Amid all of this what I missed truly is...warnings...

I did not bother to read safey warning........Irresponsible DAD...
and The Doctor who prescribed the pill did not warn me either (It was his primary JOB)
And ofcourse the warning on the singulair bottle is worse than credit card fine print (For God sake it is medication This thing should have been written boldly..

Fo all the two cents of knowledge about the drugs that i have, I did look at the scientific articles about Singulair...And they don’t even list these problems (Known as "Adverse Effects") And the reason..they have a cut off. If the number of adverse effects is less than 8% in their study population they don’t report, well this is only one article. There are few tens of articles out their like this and every one was funded (almost) by guess who “THE MERCK”….
Man I thought these thing happen in India…apparently not…
Will update as I Study more articles and have more info…
My goal now is to start the web site “BANSINGULAIR.COM for following reasons
Merck is hiding patient safety data
deliberately withholding information about adverse effects in childrens
They don’t simply care about my KID, I think this is the single most reason sufficient for me to accuse them of misleading me and putting my kid at risk from a drug by marketing it as safe drug for kids…
Last but not least, I would like to complain to some body what kind of half a job the FDA has done, completely ignoring the safety of my kid….
